Welcome to GaydarRadio’s Hero and Heroine Awards 2012! Throughout January, February and March we are celebrating LGBT history month by recognising the people who influence and make a difference to the LGBT community in the UK. These awards are nominated and voted for by you. So, get your thinking caps on and see who you would like to nominate as a hero or Heroine for 2012!

1) Pop Artist of the Year - who do you think is this year’s pop hero?2) Celebrity of the Year - who you think is great fun to watch or listen to!3) Fictional Character of the Year - from stage or screen, TV or novel who do you think should win this prestigious award?4) Actor/Actress of the Year - who’s rocked your boat this year?5) Sports Personality of the Year - who do you think should be our sports personality of the year?6) Writer of the Year - could it be a journalist or novelist. Whoever it is there are plenty to choose.7) LGBT Organisation of the Year - who have you joined this year. Who do you think is a great organisation?8) Campaigner of the Year - who's been looking out for you and the LGBT community at large?9) Historic Hero or Heroine of the Year - which queer hero from the past do you think should be honoured?10) Hero or Heroine of the Year - this is truly someone of your choice. Who is the Hero in your life? Could it be a member of the community who has raised money for a charity or some who helps others? Could it be a teacher at school or a lecturer at University? Whoever you are going to nominate you will have to write up to 150 words on why you think they should be nominated. A panel of judges will pick five potential Heroes who could be your hero of the year and you will get the chance to vote for them.
